Hi Choir Choristors!

Nope,you're not dreaming, the choir blog has finally been UPDATED! Wow,never thought this day would come huh? Anyway,always meant to update this but kept on forgetting to ask Nishta what the password is for this blog. Nevermind,even though this blog has not been updated, our awesome choir experience as been AWESOME!

Well,I'll take this time to talk about the year for our CHOIR!

2009. We had many mounts to climb huh? Mount SYF, Mount Japan and Mount Esplanade. All in all, the experience has been extremely incredible. We had fun with the choir (through singing) and also we've bonded more as a choir! Plussss, we've grown in terms of our frame of mind. (But like Mr Liew said, we shan't be contented and we'll continue to grow, 1 leap at a time).

When 2009 started, we were thinking "Another enjoyable choir year! Can't wait!!" As SYF drew near, choir sessions became "less enjoyable" for some, "challenging" for some, last but not least "stressful" for some. All in all, now when we look back at our SYF experience, we realise that it was indeed a vital stepping stone for our growth. We may not have realised it then,but we do now,don't we?

We achieved a SILVER award for our SYF. Our SYF chapter has closed.

Next mount, Mount Japan. For the 27 people who went to Japan, overall the experience was extremely enjoyable and enriching. Our "choir sprit" (not sure what you call it), was renewed. We learnt about the Japanese culture @ schools and some basic Japanese! We also got the opportunity to interact with different art groups from the various countries. Not forgetting the students from the school exchange. Fun indeed! Most importantly, we learnt the secret ingredient for success in a choir/in life.....PASSION. As long as you have a passion in whatever you do, success comes along with it. Obviously hard work plays an important role too. (1% Inspiration, 99% perspiration). And and I'll never forget how proud I was when the choir continued singing even as Mr Liew walked of the stage...never.

We then had choir camp. It was an awesome camp (totally enjoyable & we learnt alot). PLUS, the leaders bonded during the camp. Especially before the camp [if you know what I mean....! :)] And I can bet that the leaders will never forget that time when all choir members were seated (w/o being told) and singing as A CHOIR! Yay :)) You people will never forget the night practice right? "Good night". Hahah " This is the only choir that will say good night to you 20 times,better be grateful", Mr Liew.Never forget what Mr Liew said, "the strength of a choir is measured by its weakest member". Mr Liew had said this before but I guess it clicked better when we actually SAW it with our own eyes. Amazing.

Last but not least, we ended of our choir year with a BANG! Esplanade concert! We had learnt many songs in like what, 1 month? Even though we may have had a problem with memorising the lyrics, I would see that as an amazing feat! Afterall, we believed in ourselfs and indeed, the sky IS the limit. The show was awesome! The process, even more awesome.

Choir shall move forward! I'm so happy to see this happening. Obviously, this was only possible because of you people :)

Hey my fellow Choir mates!
Let's rally together. We have to, sing with all our might. "What's your frame of mind?" Is it stronger than it ever was? Well, I know it is. We the Choir can do this! Lets live, breathe and feel for every word we sing. We'll be there for each other! COME ON CHOIR!

Oh yes, here's some updates:
Indian Dance: Silver to Gold With Honours.
Band: Bronze to Silver.
Modern Dance: Silver to Gold. (Hazel updated me about this.)

What Mr Liew said is really true. We do come from the rich heritage of the convent. May our SJC Spirit show on that stage on the 20th! We can do this together, with focus and belief, in each other and in ourselves!

23 DAYS MORE!

Hi there my fellow choirmates! I hope you're getting geared up for the big day, yes? Remember how we have gone though the roller coaster ride in Hong Kong together? Remember the intensive practices in school? Pushing the wall & singing? Remember how badly we wanted to do well? Remember the midnight practice? Remember being asked by Mr Liew, "Where is your mind?" FOCUS. We must focus on the task ahead of us. Then, came public performance day. Remember the aunty who shouted at Callida to go & die? Remember running all over Singapore to sell tickets for the concert? Remember how hard we tried again?

NOW.

It's simply down to these 23 days. It's all about our FRAME OF MIND! Are you going to take everything that Mr Liew says seriously? Are you going to do your sit ups faithfully? Are you going to go though your scores, for the dynamics & pronounciations? Are you going to listen to Miss Lim's midis? Are you going to come to training with a purpose in mind? Are you?

Really, how we fare in the SYF depends on each and every one of us & how determined we are.

Hi there girls!
White Horses is making good progress we believe? I think we can grow to like it. So, once Mr Liew sends us the mail we'll give y'all the music okay? Please please please do your sectionals at home since we won't have Choir for another 2 weeks or so. It's really important you GO THROUGH THE SONG on your own cause, you don't want to get back to square #1 once Choir training resumes. Please, KEEP MOVING FORWARD! Just look through it before going to bed & it would really make a ton of difference. Please! We urge you! If you know you won't please stop reading this & get yourself out of that chair & do your revision NOW! The power of now.

Oh yes, yesterday's Choir training we've learnt that everyone really matters & we've really got to strive to make ONE VOICE! Pull those socks up/ find them (literally too!). AS HE SAID YESTERDAY, CHANGE IS POSSIBLE!

Okay. Here's a brief checklist of the things you've got to bring on Saturday!

1. Choir gown (Bring in the proper casing)
2. Choir cardigan/jacket (?)
3. Choir shoes (If you don't have, anything similar.)
4. Polo Tee
5. Jeans
6. Shoes (to match with your tee)
7. Accesories (bangles, earings, hairbands)
8. Make up (concealer, powder, blusher, eye shadow, lip gloss/stick, etc.)
9. Outstanding tickets. (Mrs Ho has to wrap up the numbers already!)
10. Waterbottle
11. Bathing things (slippers, towels)
12. No watches/striking earings!

Okay. We've done what we could. Hopefully, Saturday will rock! ;D If your mind blanks out at any point in time on stage, just S-M-I-L-E! You are a performer. Can't be that bad. Please retain whatever Mr Liew has said, SUPPORT! Make sure we work as a section, & remember to help your friends out! Choir is about the unison! C'mon, bite that Ferrero Rocher, OPEN YOUR MOUTH (esp, the high notes.), look at Mr Liew & concentrate!

REMEMBER, WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!!!! Let's help each other out, complementing each other's voices! C'mon, cause we are the SJC Choir. WE CAN DO THIS!!!! Do the school proud, do Mr Liew proud, do yourself proud! This is what we have been working so hard for & YOU KNOW YOU CAN! "I'll be there for you & you'll be there for me!"

I hope you will read this.
After you talked to us today, I have been thinking. I know I can't be the person to represent our choir into saying our apologies, I can only state my opinion. I may not know who it is who insulted you in their blog(s), but I know that each of us have at least a little bit of regret. Though most of us weren't the ones who insulted you, we all know that it is partially our fault that you were disappointed with us.
Vanessa, a Secondary 1 student can see this. Cause, we're CHOIR not SOLO or SECTION. This, we now should know is very important. Mr Liew, we see this because of what YOU always say! That the Choir's strength is measured by it's weakest members. Please, don't leave us, we promise to do our very best. (MOST OF US!!!)

In the span of 11months that I have been in this choir, I have grown from day 1. I know that on the first day, we were all not really that good, and you helped us learn from there. Each of us grew a little, in volume, in power and in confidence. Through our Hong Kong experience, we learnt how it felt like to be on stage, performing in front of a whole hall of people. I know that after that experience, I have at least gained more confidence, as I am now brave enough to sing in front of my friends. Though I know I am not in concert performing standard, it is at least a feat achieved.If you have ever thought of us as lazy, we know it is our fault. However, it is most probably we are too relaxed in choir, having great peers that support us and keep us entertained. We now know that being too relaxed, most probably, will add unneccessary burden to the teachers, leaders and conductors. I'm sure each of us will try to change and become less playful as to not offend you in any way.About the tickets issue, I'm sure most of us are extremely excite about the concert, just that we really can't find anyone to sell the tickets to. Our leaders have been thinking about that alot, and have decided to ask us to go to MRTs, to advertise and to sell the tickets.

If the person really said on their blog wishlist, "Change Conductor", then in my wishlist, I have "Never change conductor", because I really think you're a very very good conductor. Yes, for every hater there is 5 supporters! Why look at the puny evil when there's so much good around? Mr Liew, please forgive us! Though you are strict at times, I'm sure majority of us knows that it is because you want us to be better, and not to be a bad choir.We haven't been the best choir, all of us know that. Majority of our choir is made up of Secondary 1 students. Even though we don't say it, I'm sure maority of us really love you alot, Yesyesyes, Luurrrrvvvvee. though we are slightly intimidated. We know that you don't mean any harm and all and scolding us is for our benefit.Though it is not our decision to make, I hope you really change your mind about leaving our choir, for deep down, all of us know that we won't be the same without you as our Conductor.Mr Liew, please, we've come to a realisation!

Let's be there for each other! :D Reeeemember? Kuih LAPIS! Come on, we've just got to do this! It's about us blending together. First as a section, like how we sing the first note for Domine Fili Unigenite. It's all got to be "Doooooor", not anything else. Once we've blended in our various sections, AS A CHOIR! Keep that in mind, please! That's the goal.

Annnyway, I think it's confirmed that tmr's the Sec 2 talk. Causeee, we've been waiting since forever, last week! Cause, like some people didn't come for Choir, so we kept on postponing, right Geraldineeee? Nowwww, even if only 1 Sec 2 turns up tmr? We'll still do it! Lollll. Promise, cross our hearts.

Oh yeah, you know, for Survivor, the song's about proving someone wrong. Imagine someone just left you & you want to prove to the person that you're better without that person? Yeah, A-T-T-I-T-U-D-E! Make an impact, save the earth, Gaia.

Yeah, anything suits us fine, just get those tickets, cause they're going out fasttttttt. Reallllly. ;D

Sang the My People, My Home today. I think the school's not meant to sing along is it? Cos, Mrs Crossley didn't sing/smile either. Sad, & totally annoying. But, could be heard from the back, friends said. At the beginging of the song everyone was smiling a little, I saw! Then, due to the very dead audience, we din't really smile right? Ugh, everyone was just stttaaaring. It's okay, they did forget our mikes, Mrs Lee apologises for that mishap. She said that we tried to smile and project our voices nontheless. Mr Liew said:"Well, I know all of you did your best!" Kudos, it's a good experience, I guess!

But, at community/house singing? Oh-my. Bestest ever, right? Esp, the National Anthem. Okay, overall a great celeb! Love!

Hey Babehs.
Today, was first practice after HongKong. We were such naughty kids right, for the first hour. (Those who were in the AVA room, I wasn't in the Concourse, but I bet y'all too ehhh!) I mean, who comes up with the lamest idea of singing HK songs, when HK is OVER & we're all having sore throats, too high to anyway & prolly sing out of pitch/rhythm/tune, when it's so sudden. Ugh. & Miss Netty scolded for not singing luuuuh, ;D. (Omg, Miss Netty grew horns & a tail!) It's funny when she scolds.

So, finally plucked the courage to go find Miss Netty & tell her again that we've not sung much & its already 1 hour la. (First time got chided at, naughty us!) Then, Mr Liew comes 'long.
Funny much. When told that we werent singing anything for 1 hour plus, he was like, "WHO CARES?" Hahaha. Go tell Miss Netty laaaaa. Then I told him what Miss Netty said & he was like, "WHO CAAAAAARES!?" I agree man, who cares. Said everyone's high today. Right.

Ndp'06 was such fun. I know, it was the most tiring this ever. Even worse than NDP'06. I rememeber reaching home at 1am on Saturdays. & having those Sunday practices with CTs the next day, us studying there together. I rememeber for us Sec 1s was History & Geog. The disgusting mossy black floor. Miss Netty always accompanying us in those bus rides. The lovely seniors, who made it even more incredible , (: Walking from the indoor staium to the outdoor stadium, FAST! Watching Ronin sing the same song over & over. Jeremy Retnam/Rosalind Lee/Gurmit Singh/Michelle Chia/Sheikh Haikel/Jean Danker. The fuschia fan, the silver tambourine, the red/yellow flags, the swirly umbrella. When we had to change colours, the velcro getting stuck! Hahaha. Sharon Cheong & Sylvia McCully! Eating KFC/Pizza Hut/Macs. Having combined rehersals in various schools. Sitting in the stadium watching everything, Rulang Primary, Nan Hua Sec, Vincent Ng, the SOKA, the Fireworks! Waiting so long for the bus after practices. Bigger groups, given the advantage. Feeling so tired & hungry at the end of it all. Ohohoh, and that lovely guy who proposed to his girlfriend in front of everyone on the 9th! The after-parade party, with the water drummers! <3 Missed crazily. I love everyone laa.

Hey-lo. Hope you guys are busy studying, yes. I mean NO. TGIF! Sheeeeesh. Okay, I think its like the starting of the Hungry Ghost Festival, cause, I just went out & got burnt through my slippers, accidentally coming across ash. Freshly burnt offerings. Whoa, the 2Faiths girls had the 'funniest day ever for 2F' today uh. Heard all about it. Hilarious, the past 2F girls did the same. But, the teachers got reaaaal mad.

Anywaaaay, its been so long since the HKtrip (: I can still remember us frantically practicing in the bus uh? With the handphone piano. Cause, we slacked the entire thing before. I've commited to updating this thing as regularly as possible! Please mail us at choralesingers@gmail.com for whatever!

Our next milestone to conquer'll be the combined public performance aye, at RP! (: Remember, it's a GOLD for our SYF okaaaaay! We'll try our best, whatever the colour.

Haaaaah, I can still remember on the first day of HK, when we all just wanted to go home. Cause, the hostel was this scaaaary ghost hospital replica. But, it's alright, we'll still see each other around, just minus the scary coridoors/flooded toilets/crowded lifts/smuggling in people/instant noodles/coupon sharing/shopping/bargaining/disneylanding/scoldings/laughing/awkward moments. Hey there my dear choir mates! (: I'm glad to be blogging again. I'm really looking forward to the choir camp next week! I apologise deeply for all the misunderstandings and the fact that everything is last minute. We would do our best to do a much better job for the next camp, which is most probably in March 2008. No promises yet though. As for the upcoming camp, the timings, and things to bring will be put up asap. I haven't exactly confirmed the details with the Exco and Teachers yet. So please bear with me. I will get back to all of you ASAP. Thanks :D

NOW.. For the proper post to start. Weeeell, I sincerely apologise that I haven't had the time to blog and update the blog sooner.
